China Glaze Awakening
Duochrome, oh duochrome, how I love a duochrome. I found a bottle of China Glaze’s Awakening at my local Sally’s this weekend and was totally charmed by its rosy-golden shift. I brought it home and realized that buried in the shifting color I could see a near-dupe of Orly’s Glitz, a warm yellow gold, and China Glaze’s Purr-fect Plum, a rich reddened purple from the recent On Safari collection. So of course I did another double-stamp.
After two coats of Awakening I stamped with a flower etch from one of my Bundle Monster plates, first with Glitz, and then again with Purr-fect Plum. I didn’t try to line the patterns up too closely, and in the end I think the effect is nice. It looks almost like a gradient to gold at the tips with the plum stamp over the top. I keep thinking it looks like a sunrise. How poetic!
It’s a difficult color to photograph, and we’ve had no sun lately. So here is an assortment of shots from around my office.
